In Q2 of 2023, Udemy’s Workplace Learning Index reported a substantial surge of 515% in demand for Google Cloud courses. Professionals are increasingly seeking to master cloud technologies for effective data management, scalable solutions, and innovative business operations in the midst of digital transformation. ChatGPT witnessed a 504% rise in demand, marking the second-largest surge in course consumption among Indian learners in Q2. According to Udemy’s report, as of June 30, there were over 1.6 million learners enrolled in ChatGPT-related courses, with 272,000 enrollments in India alone. The Workplace Learning Index further noted a 145% increase in demand for Design Thinking, indicating professionals’ interest in leveraging it for innovation, problem-solving, and user-centric solutions.

Vinay Pradhan, country manager at Udemy India, emphasized the importance of continuous skills development in today’s competitive economy. He stressed the need for businesses to identify skill gaps within their teams and provide personalized learning opportunities. This approach empowers employees to harness transformative technologies for improved customer experiences, innovation, and growth opportunities.

The Udemy Workplace Learning Index sourced data from numerous Udemy Business customers globally, using location data associated with the companies. Skills data compared course consumption in the Udemy Business collection from Q1 2023 to Q2 2023. Courses were tagged with topics, with a maximum of five topics per course, and the trending skills in the report were derived from these topics. Consumption minutes for courses covering multiple topics were equally divided among associated topics.

The surge in demand for Google Cloud and ChatGPT courses, as highlighted by Udemy’s Workplace Learning Index in Q2 2023, reflects professionals’ pursuit of advanced skills in cloud technologies and AI. This data underscores the evolving landscape where proficiency in these areas is becoming increasingly vital for businesses and career advancement.
