X, Previously Twitter Unlocks Job Search Feature for All Users

X, formerly known as Twitter, recently unveiled its job search feature, X Hiring, to all users after an initial beta launch last August. Initially, this feature was exclusive to verified organizations on the platform, marking X’s foray into the job search arena, positioning itself as a competitor to LinkedIn, notably endorsed by owner Elon Musk. The platform plans to introduce a mobile-friendly version of X Hiring for iOS and Android users, although no specific timeline has been provided yet.

Musk openly criticized LinkedIn’s usability, highlighting his intentions to create a cooler alternative. X Hiring aims to rival established job platforms like Indeed, Monster, Meta, and Google, while also competing with specialized industry-specific job boards. Users can utilize X Hiring to search for jobs based on keywords, location, and filter for remote-only positions. Additionally, if employers provide salary ranges for positions, this information will be displayed alongside the job’s location.

This move reflects the increasing significance of salary information on job boards, following Indeed’s announcement that half of U.S. job postings in August included employer-provided salary data. However, recent controversies surrounding X, including reports of disinformation and offensive content, have led to some advertisers, including IBM, Apple, Lionsgate, and Disney, pausing their advertisements on the platform. This raises questions about potential hesitancy among employers to utilize X Hiring due to these concerns.

Despite the platform’s efforts to diversify and expand its services, these issues may pose challenges for X Hiring’s adoption among employers considering its association with recent controversies on the platform.
